“Learning, Applying, Leading”: This is the core model of Rem on Campus, designed to prepare students for an evolving workforce while making a positive impact in their communities. Over three semesters, students gain real-world experience, develop essential skills, and make meaningful contributions to their communities while advancing through progressively challenging roles.
Each semester, students consult for a local small business, identifying the business’s challenges and developing strategic solutions. Each team member takes responsibility for a specific part of the project, conducting research and analysis to create strategic recommendations. The project ends with a final presentation to the small business partner.
Learning
Junior Strategist
Students begin by learning problem-solving basics like design thinking and how to build data-driven deliverables. They work alongside experienced team members to observe meetings, understand challenges, collaborate on workstreams, and identify best practices in the industry.
Applying
Strategist
Students transition to client-facing roles. They analyze challenges, identify innovative solutions, own designated workstreams, build out deliverables, and present to clients.
Leading
Team Lead
High-performing students take on leadership roles guiding strategy teams. They lead weekly internal and external meetings– updating clients, determining overarching strategy, delegating tasks to team members, and working with our national team to ensure the quality of deliverables.
In the summer of 2020, Kosha came across Rem and resonated with our mission to help small businesses cope with the consequences of COVID-19. With the onset of the pandemic, she could see how her mom, a small business owner, was struggling. With no prior consulting experience and having just completed her freshman year at the University of Florida (UF), she started in our “Learning” phase. She continued through the “Applying” and “Leading” phases, equipping her with the skills and confidence to oversee 6 teams in the Southern Florida Region. Constantly looking for ways to further her impact, she took a national position overseeing 7 universities helping university leaders across America grow and succeed. She then worked with our leadership to launch our High School Fellowship Program educating high school students about consulting as a career path! Since graduating, Kosha joined Goldman Sachs as a Financial Analyst. We’re so grateful for her years of dedication and the legacy she’s created.
While the program was originally designed to span over three semesters, the majority of students are extremely passionate about the work we do and remain involved throughout all four years of university. This long-term commitment allows them to take on additional leadership roles, deepen their skills, and make lasting contributions to their community.
