Outreach, Branding, and Community Engagement for a Social Venture

Situation:

Corporate sustainability has long been a neglected topic in the United States. It's not enough anymore for companies to pursue societal issues as a side activity. Instead, they are encouraged to use their core business to create both positive societal impact and business benefits.

Our client understood this and realized an opportunity to be at the forefront of positive change. With the belief that Gen Zs’ should have a seat at the table in the corporate sustainability discussion, our client was motivated to ramp up recruiting efforts and create an online community for their sustainability product ratings platform.

Challenge:

Since our client is not yet in the position to compensate employees part of their community and responsible for creating product ratings, the venture’s continued growth and long-term success was dependent on and structured around a student volunteer model. Due to the client’s growth and diverse offerings, they needed a reliable structured and people-focused approach towards recruitment strategies.

Approach:

Our team focused on three areas that we believed would benefit and transform our client’s recruiting efforts.

Outreach: By streamlining recruitment and application processes and creating reliable workflows for employees, our client is able to expand outreach efforts and attract more talent. This includes recommendations for employee incentivization, churn rate minimization and materials such as pitch deck and team structure.

Social Media: This phase of the project is focused on attracting and retaining existing networks through the use of social media apps. Composed of action items that the client can implement over the course of the next semester, including customer segmentation and user experience on brand-focused apps such as Instagram, and community establishment on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Community: Creating a meaningful sense of community and commitment is a crucial step in the long-term success of our client, and recommendations were given on how to build small and large connections in an online virtual community, as well as best practices to facilitate efficient communication between teams.

Given our expertise in employee incentivization and similar business structure to our client, we were able to provide concrete advice on long-term team structure and incentivization tactics.

Impact:

With the help of Rem and Company, our client now has a structured approach to building a more sustainable business model, through an increased emphasis on outreach strategy and branding. Our client is also more prepared to raise external funds, and we look forward to realizing the value we have attempted to unlock for our client over the past few months.
